a woman in her 30th wks of pregnancy is brought to ER after a motor vehicular accident she is complaining of constant, severe abdominal pain.examination reveals a rigid uterus and no vaginal bleeding.pb98/58,pulse 140,resp 32,temp 37.3 and fetal heart tone is 190 beats /min the nurse should suspect which of the ff?
*NO VAGINAL BLEEDING
a.placenta previa - NO
The usual tip-off is sudden, painless, vaginal bleeding, typically beginning in the 29th or 30th weeks. The bleeding can be intermittent or constant, or a single gush of blood. If the placenta is totally blocking the birth canal, the bleeding may start earlier in the pregnancy.
b.abruptio placenta - NO
Signs typically include vaginal bleeding and pain in the abdomen or back. You could have uterine contractions, with your abdomen tightening and relaxing as it does when you are in labor, or remaining tight all the time.
c.premature labor - ANSWER >> rigid uterus (describes contractions), Normal FHT 120-160 beats per minute (FHT increases because blood supply to the fetus is temporarily cut while the uterus contracts. The heart would then compensate by increasing the rate in an attempt to deliver oxygen to the tissues)
d.ruptured uterus - NO
No bleeding?
